Sound: Good
soundboard.
Comments: Duran
Duran's very first
trip
to Washington D.C. is captured within this performance. There are some
strange characteristics to this bootleg. I'll try to make it as simple
as I can. It's definitely some type of soundboard recording, thru some
sort of mixer. I listened to this cd once with headphones on, and
once
just thru my desktop speakers (cranked up way loud), and I came to
different
conclusions each time. What i can say for sure is this. The person at
the
mixing board couldn't make his mind up. At some points the Keyboards
are
way loud, sometimes it's the bass, sometimes it's the backup vocals,
etc.
A lot of the time, Andy and John's mikes are turned up. WAY UP. Anytime
they join in on background vocals, you can't hear Simon at all. They
totally
drown him out. Throughout the entire performance, Roger's drums are too
quiet. You can't even hear his drum solo in 'Careless Memories'. His
roto-toms
musn't have been miked up at all. Another strange thing, the night
version
of 'Girls On Film' is missing at the end of the show. You can hear the
intro to the song, that familiar little "took, took, took-took-took,
took,
took, took-took-took" thing, but they shut it off, and close the show
right
there. Strange.... Anyway, all this aside, it's a very cool bootleg.
I've cleaned up this recording,
elminating all the split second silences between tracks. Most copies
floating
around out there will still contain these, so if you want a totally
clean
copy, get it from me.
